Daily, the Morro da Vargem Zen Monastery opens its doors to groups of up to 50 students. The visits must be scheduled in advance so that the monitors can prepare their lessons and the guided tours along forest trails.
Working within the Zen tradition, simple and good-humored examples are presented, based upon nature. Thus, the students become more interested and develop a higher level of awareness about ecology, are more sensitive to environmental questions and learn more about natural spaces.
Since the begining of its Environmental Education Program, in the 1980's, the Monastery has received more than 300,000 students.
