The connection between Zen and artistic manifestations has been very intense since feudal times in oriental peoples. The teachings, the vision of the world and the way of life of the great masters always has stimulated poets, painters and artists in general. They have sought to use Zen to develop the notable subtlety of perception of its practitioners in creating their artwork.
In Japan, this mix was so intense that it wound up influencing all of the artistic expressions of the people’s culture: painting, poetry, gardening, calligraphy, culinary arts, sculpture and architecture.
