Brought to Brazil, the elements of Japanese Zen culture have become more apparent in culinary arts and gardening. Both of these fields are intimately related to the Zen concept of the interdependence of things and with the activities of the Morro da Vargem Zen Monastery.
The notable participation in the defense of nature is reflected and artistic and symbolic ways, both in meals as well as gardening. In their posture at the moment of eating and the contemplation of the art of gardening, the monks give us lessons about acknowledging and revering what we receive from nature and how much are we are able and should learn from manifestations of nature.
